Russian Strike On Ukraine Triggers Several Fires In Kyiv, 3 Injured

<p>At least three people were injured following a Russian missile attack in Kyiv which also triggered several fires in the Ukrainian capital, said the mayor and military administration.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Air alerts were sounded all across Ukraine as of 0200 GMT after the country’s air force warned of an attack including on regions bordering Poland, forcing the NATO member to scramble aircraft to ensure security, reported Reuters.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a Telegram post that fires were recorded in at least three districts of Kyiv. Two civilians were hospitalised in the Darnytskyi district on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River that splits the city, he added.</p>
<p>”Do not leave shelters!” Klitschko said.</p>
<p>Witnesses told Reuters they heard several loud explosions in what they said sounded like air defence units in operation.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>19 Killed In Earlier Russian Strike</h2>
<p>The scale of the attack was not immediately clear and there were no repors of strikes or damage in western Ukraine regions that borders Poland, as per the report.&nbsp;</p>
<p>A high alert has been sounded in Poland for objects entering its airspace since a stray Ukrainian missile hit the southern Polish village of Przewodow in 2022, killing two people. The NATO-member nation scrambles jets each time Russia launches missiles targeting Ukrainian regions along its borders.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Russian strikes on Sunday came after officials in the southern region of Mykolaiv reported three people had been injured in the attack. A day earlier, 19 people were killed after Russia struck the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih.</p>
<p>There was no immediate comment from Russia. Both sides have denied targeting civilians in the war that Russia started with a full-scale invasion of its smaller neighbour three years ago. Thousands of civilians have been killed in the conflict since its beginning in February 2022, the vast majority of them from Ukraine.</p>
