by aweeincm

A Hungarian passenger on a German high-speed ICE train had a narrow escape after clinging to the exterior of the train travelling at speeds of up to 282 km/h (175 mph). The 40-year-old, who boarded in Munich without a valid ticket, stepped off for a cigarette at Ingolstadt station but lingered too long, missing the chance to reboard as the doors closed.

According to a report by BBC, the man determined not to be separated from his luggage onboard, he jumped onto a bracket between two carriages and held onto cables as the train sped towards Nuremberg.

The train was eventually brought to a stop by federal police approximately 30 km away after witnesses alerted authorities. The train driver made an unscheduled stop at Kinding in Upper Bavaria which was on a six-hour journey to the northern city of Lübeck.
