Encounter In J&K After Soldiers Intercept Fresh Infiltrators, Girl Injured

by aweeincm1

The anti-terror operation in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, has been halted for the night and will be resumed in the morning, sources said.

The gun-battle with the terrorists who had infiltrated into the country had started earlier today. A seven-year-old girl has been injured in the crossfire, sources said. Doctors have said that she is out of danger and stable.

The locals had alerted the police after spotting heavily armed terrorists and the Quick Reaction Teams of CRPF and the police were the first to reach the spot.

Multiple companies of CRPF and the army were later sent as reinforcements.

The encounter had started when security forces launched a search operation in Sanyal village near the International Border in Hiranagar sector following information about the presence of suspected terrorists in the area, the officials said.

Jammu has been witnessing a series of infiltrations by terrorists lately. On March 17, an encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in Kupwara district, in which a Pakistani terrorist died.

Recently, terrorists killed three innocent civilians in the Kathua district. On of them was a 14-year-old boy.
