<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the strong tremors that ripped through Myanmar and Thailand causing heavy damage on Friday. Taking to X, PM Modi said he has asked Indian authorities to be on standby and also asked the Ministry of External Affairs to remain in touch with the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand. </p>
<p>”Concerned by the situation in the wake of the Earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. India stands ready to offer all possible assistance,” Modi said. </p>
<p>”In this regard, asked our authorities to be on standby. Also asked the MEA to remain in touch with the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand,” he added. </p>
<p>At least 43 people were trapped after a 30-storey skyscraper in Bangkok collapsed in the aftermath of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that sent ripples in several countries in south and southeast Asia including Thailand, China, Bangladesh, and India. </p>
<p>The epicentre of the quake was located in the central city of Mandalay in Myanmar, about 50km east of the city of Monywa, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). </p>
