PM Modi To Stay At Blair House During US Visit, To Hold 6 Bilateral Meets In 36 Hours

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday embarked on a visit to the United States where he will be meeting President Donald Trump after wrapping his three-day visit to France.</p>
<p>PM Modi is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Trump in both restricted and delegation-level formats.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Modi will be the fourth foreign leader to visit Trump in the weeks after the American leader&rsquo;s January 20 inauguration as the 47th President of the US in January.&nbsp;</p>
<p>During the US trip, the prime minister will hold six bilateral meetings during his 36-hour visit to the US. He will be staying at Blair House, the US Presidential guest house which is right across the road from the White House.</p>
<p>PM Modi will also be holding a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House at 4 pm on Thursday. A range of bilateral issues are expected to be on the table besides, besides discussions on regional and international situation.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Trump-Modi meeting will be followed by a private dinner with the US president later in the evening. The two leaders will address the media in the Oval Office before or after the meeting.</p>
<p>PM Modi will be the fourth head of state to meet Trump in less than a month after the Republican President took oath for a second term. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu was the first to visit US, followed by Japan’s Shigeru Ishiba.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Jordan’s King Abdullah II visited the US on Tuesday after Trump threatened to cut off aid if Amman didn’t accommodate Palestinians from Gaza before its proposed US rebuilding.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This will be Modi’s first visit since the inauguration of the second presidential term of Trump on January 20. Modi’s visit will provide a valuable opportunity to engage the new administration in all areas of mutual interest, senior officials said.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The prime minister’s visit to the US at the invitation of President Trump shows the importance of the India-US partnership and is also reflective of the bipartisan support that this partnership enjoys in the US, Foreign Secretary said Vikram Misri said here in a briefing on February 7.</p>
