Have you ever heard of wood-flavoured ice cream? Recently, a digital creator demonstrated the extensive process of preparing Western Redcedar ice cream. FYI: Western Redcedar is a type of coniferous tree. The clip, posted on Instagram, begins with the digital creator saying, “Back to boiling chunks of wood in a pot of cream because I cannot stop making wood-flavoured ice cream.” The man adds, “With the chunks of wood chopped, toasted, infused and strained it’s now ready to use as an ice-cream base.” Next, the creator uses a cold smoker to make cedar-smoked chocolate. After that, he creates a silicone mould of some Western Redcedar leaves and cones. He tempers the smoked chocolate and pours it into the molds resulting in leaf and cone-shaped chocolate chips.

The final step involves churning the cedar wood ice cream and adding the chocolate, cones and leaves. The chef also builds a bowl and spoon from the Western Redcedar wood to relish the ice cream. Once the preparation is complete, he takes a bite from the sweet delicacy. His reaction is priceless. “Wow, kind of tastes like a sauna. That is wild Really interesting, really good,” he says before recommending viewers to try it out too.
