<p>A deadly terror attack struck the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, leaving at least 26 people dead, most of them tourists, as per sources. The attack, which occurred at the Baisaran meadow, is the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack.</p>
<p>US President Donald Trump expressed support for India in the fight against terrorism. In a post on Truth Social, he said, “Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!”</p>

<p>In a post on X, US Vice President J D Vance, who is currently visiting India, expressed his condolences, stating, “Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack.”</p>

<p>President of Russia Vladimir Putin extended condolences to President <a title=”Droupadi Murmu” href=”https://news.abplive.com/topic/droupadi-murmu” data-type=”interlinkingkeywords”>Droupadi Murmu</a> and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He stated, “Esteemed Mrs President, Esteemed Mr Prime Minister, Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians — citizens of various countries. This brutal crime has no justification whatsoever. We expect that its organisers and perpetrators will face deserved punishment.”</p>
<p>”I would like to reiterate our commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.<br />Please convey words of sincere sympathy and support to the near and dear ones of the deceased, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery of all injured,” his statement added, as per news agency ANI.</p>
<p>Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov also <a href=”https://x.com/AmbRus_India/status/1914723336652726693″>posted on X</a>, “Deepest condolences to the people and the Government of India over the heinous terror attack against tourists in Pahalgam. Russia resolutely stands with India.”</p>
<p>Israeli officials also condemned the attack. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar took to X to call it a “heinous terror attack”, adding, “Israel stands united with India in the fight against terror.” Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, described the attack as “appalling” and expressed solidarity with the victims, saying, “Sad and appalled following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir which took the lives of innocent civilians. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and our support is for the security forces in their struggle against terror.”</p>

<p>Ukraine also expressed concern over the incident. In a <a href=”https://x.com/UkrembInd/status/1914703763597877719″>statement on X</a>, the Embassy of Ukraine in India said, “Ukraine is deeply concerned over the attack on tourists at Pahalgam, J&K. We endure the loss of life from terrorism daily and firmly condemn terrorism in all its forms. When innocent people are murdered, it brings unbearable pain. The perpetrators should be held accountable.”</p>
<p>Ambassador of France to India Thierry Mathou condemned the incident, <a href=”https://x.com/thierry_mathou/status/1914725245321150564″>stating,</a> “Strong condemnation of the dastardly attack in Jammu & Kashmir. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. France stands in solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism.”</p>
<p>The <a href=”https://x.com/Iran_in_India/status/1914716112006140018″>Embassy of Iran in India posted on X</a>, “The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi strongly condemns the terrorist attack in the city of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the death and injury of a large number of innocent people. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of India, especially to the families of the victims of this attack, and wish a speedy recovery and good health to the injured.”</p>
<h3><strong>Amit Shah In Srinagar To Review Security Post Pahalgam Attack</strong></h3>
<p>Union Home Minister Amit Shah swiftly arrived in Srinagar following the attack to review the security situation in the region. Shah, accompanied by officials including Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, was briefed by the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Nalin Prabhat. Shah is expected to visit Pahalgam on Wednesday to assess the aftermath of the attack.</p>
<p>The terror group, The Resistance Front (TRF), which is a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack. The terrorists reportedly opened fire at tourists in the meadow, known as mini Switzerland, which is a popular spot for visitors to the region. Eyewitnesses reported that the terrorists targeted individuals, asking for their identities before opening fire.</p>
<h3><strong>Protests In Jammu After Pahalgam Attack</strong></h3>
<p>Protests erupted in Jammu city in response to the attack, with demonstrators condemning the actions of the terrorists and demanding action against Pakistan. The Rashtriya Bajrang Dal (RBD), led by Rakesh Kumar, held a protest march, calling the attack a “targeted killing of Hindus” and linking it to the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, news agency PTI reported. Kumar said, “This attack took place just ahead of the Amarnath Yatra. Registration for the yatra has only recently begun, and this act is clearly aimed at creating fear among the Hindu pilgrims.”</p>
<p>Another protest was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Jammu’s Muthi area, demanding strict measures against the terrorists responsible for the attack. Protests were also reported in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.</p>
<p>The attack has sparked widespread condemnation both in India and internationally, with various governments reaffirming their support for India in its fight against terrorism. The authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and the toll from the attack is still being ascertained.</p>
