The ongoing feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk continues to deepen as the US President on Tuesday signalled potential action of deportation against the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

When asked by reporters whether Musk could face deportation, Trump replied: “I don’t know, we’ll have to take a look,” which fuelled speculation amid tensions between the two leaders that escalated over a proposed federal tax and spending reform bill.

The remarks came as Trump and Musk continued to clash publicly over what the president calls his “Big Beautiful Bill”—a sweeping legislative package aimed at cutting taxes and reducing federal spending.

’DOGE Is The Monster That Might Have To Eat Musk'

Trump warned that Musk might lose more than electric vehicle subsidies under the new policy and suggested that his administration may revisit Musk’s influence on federal spending programs.

“We might have to put DOGE on Elon,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for a trip to Florida, the Associated Press reported. “DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon.”

The US President’s remarks mark a significant shift from their earlier association, during which Musk was positioned as a key advisor and was appointed to oversee the the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

’Elon Would Have To Close Up And Head Back To South Africa'

Trump’s remark on “looking into” Musk’s deportation came after he said that the Tesla CEO might have to “close up shop” and move back to South Africa, as their feud escalated over the bill. He also accused Musk of excessive reliance on federal subsidies.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far,” Trump posted on social media. “And without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

He further implied that reducing Musk-linked programs such as satellite launches, space exploration, and electric vehicle production, US could cut back on spending and that the move would contribute significantly to country’s cost-saving efforts.

“No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!” Trump posted.

The comments followed a post by Musk on social media platform X, in which he criticised the pending legislation and threatened to launch a new political entity in response. “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” Musk wrote. “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a voice.”

Their dispute intensified earlier in June when Trump reportedly threatened to revoke Musk’s federal contracts. The situation further deteriorated after Musk suggested Trump’s name appeared in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. However, he later retracted the allegation.
