Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, has expressed concern over his son’s packed schedule, urging him to slow down and take some time off. The South African businessman described his son as “energetic” and remarked that he often advises him to rest.

“Get some rest,” Errol Musk told NDTV with a laugh, adding, “Keep it up if you can. I do say to him, when I speak to him, ‘try and take a break’.”

Errol noted his son’s youthful energy despite Elon Musk being 53 years old.

“He is 53. People at 53 say, ‘Oh, we are too old’. But he is like someone in his early 30s.”

The elder Musk also mentioned a planned trip to India, which Elon Musk had to defer in April due to “very heavy Tesla obligations.” Errol expressed disappointment over the cancelled visit, calling it a lost opportunity.

“I am quite surprised he has not been to India. If he does not, he is making a big mistake…”

Elon Musk’s future visit is expected to involve discussions on investment, with both Tesla and Starlink — SpaceX’s satellite internet service — preparing to enter the Indian market.

Turning to business advice, Errol Musk encouraged his son to concentrate more on Neuralink, a neurotechnology firm focused on creating implantable brain-computer interfaces. The technology aims to boost cognitive functioning and help treat neurological impairments.

“The company amazes me. They are talking about rejoining spinal cords… enabling the blind to see… restoring hearing to people. It is not ‘way in the future’. It is soon. They are being made… they already have brain implants that quadriplegics can operate computers,” he said, as per NDTV.

Errol Musk also shared his fascination with gravitational research and time travel, referencing early 20th-century physicists.

“This sounds way out but 100 years ago scientists were doing it. (Albert) Einstein and others who worked with him were doing it. We really need to study those things. The future we envisage… vehicles going up in space… that’s never going to happen unless people study this.”

On the economic front, amid recent market fluctuations and high tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, Errol offered an optimistic view of India’s financial trajectory.

“India is on the verge of a booming economy. We are in good times for India,” he remarked.
