Showdown Over ‘Criminal MPs’ Bill, Opposition Throws Paper At Amit Shah

Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a bill to ensure the removal of elected representatives arrested or detained on serious criminal charges from office. The proposed law will cover the Prime Minister, Union ministers, Chief Ministers and ministers of Union Territories.

Mr Shah introduced three bills – The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Constitution (One Hundred And Thirtieth Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2025.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, in Lok Sabha. The Bill aims to promote and regulate the online gaming sector, including e-sports, educational games and social gaming. However, the opposition continued to protest, demanding a discussion on the Bihar voter list revision, leading to disruptions and the adjournment of the House.
