Prince Harry Wants ‘Reconciliation’ With Royal Family After ‘Devastating’ Defeat In UK Security Legal Battle

by aweeincm

Prince Harry on Friday expressed his desire to reconcile with the Royal Family after being “devastated” at losing a legal battle over his security in the UK, which he said has led his father, King Charles III, to stop talking to him.

”I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore, life is precious,” Harry told the BBC. “I don’t know how much longer my father has.” Harry last met his father in February 2024, shortly after King Charles, 76, was diagnosed with cancer. They had a short meeting in London.

In the interview, which aired three hours after the court ruling, Harry said his father “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.”

The Duke of Sussex, 40, stepped down from royal duties and moved to California five years ago. In 2023, he published his autobiography “Spare”, wherein he made damning revelations about his father and his elder brother, Prince William.

After losing the Friday’s court battle, which started as Prince Harry wanted to overturn changes to his security in 2020 after he stepped down as a working royal, he said: “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”

”There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” he added, but had now “forgiven” them.

Prince Harry Says He ‘Never Asked Father To Intervene'

In a statement issued by Harry after the court hearing, he stated that he has been “treated as an exception” in regard to the issue of security and that the conditions of his security were not made on the basis of threat, risk, and impact, but “based on my role – one that my wife and I wanted to maintain, but that was ultimately refused.” He said the court had decided to defer his plea, which revealed how his “hands are tied in seeking legal recourse against the establishment”.

”This all comes from the same institutions that preyed upon my mother, that openly campaigned for the removal of our security, and that continue to incite hatred towards me, my wife and even our children, while at the same time protecting the very power that they should be holding accountable,” he added.

During the BBC interview, Prince Harry said he was “let down” by the court’s ruling, but described it as a “good old fashioned establishment stitch up,” for which he blamed the Royal Household for playing a part in reducing his security.

Answering to whether he asked his father to intervene in the security dispute, Harry said: “I never asked him to intervene – I asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.”

The Duke of Sussex then revealed how his “worst fears” were uncovered by the way he was treated during the course of the legal battle. “I’m devastated – not so much as devastated with the loss that I am about the people behind the decision, feeling as though this is okay. Is it a win for them?”

”I’m sure there are some people out there, probably most likely the people that wish me harm, [who] consider this a huge win,” he added.

Asked whether he missed the UK, the prince replied: “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done… and I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

Prince Harry stated that he would not be seeking any further legal challenge to the “surprise” court ruling, which he said had “proven that there was not way to win this through the courts.”

”This, at the heart of it, is a family dispute, and it makes me really, really sad that we’re sitting here today, five years later, where a decision that was made most likely, in fact I know, to keep us under the roof,” he further said.
