‘Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes,’ Says Woman Behind Viral Video of Alleged CEO Affair at Coldplay Concert

by aweeincm

What was meant to be a romantic, crowd-pleasing moment during Coldplay’s July 16 concert at Boston’s Gillette Stadium turned into a PR catastrophe for one tech company, and a viral sensation for the internet.

It all started with a Kiss Cam.

When The Kiss Cam Turned Scandalous

A ‘Kiss Cam’ is a familiar bit of live-event fun, where couples in the crowd are spotlighted and nudged to share a kiss for the audience. But at the British band Coldplay’s Boston concert on Friday, when the stadium screen landed on a sharply dressed man and woman locked in an affectionate embrace, things took a sharp left turn.

As cameras zoomed in, the couple (later identified as Andy Byron, CEO of tech company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, its Chief People Officer) reacted like deer caught in headlights.

Byron quickly ducked out of the frame, and Cabot turned away, attempting to hide her face. The awkwardness wasn’t lost on Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who joked from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Turns out, it may have been the former. Both executives are reportedly married to other people.

Viral Firestorm Sparked By TikTok User

The moment may have passed unnoticed in the sea of stadium spectators, had it not been for Grace Springer, a 28-year-old Coldplay fan from New Jersey who filmed the cringeworthy exchange on her phone and uploaded it to TikTok under her handle @instaagrace.

“I had no idea who they were,” Grace later told The U.S. Sun. “We were just there for the music.”

That quickly changed. Within hours, internet sleuths identified the pair, and the clip exploded online, garnering over 46 million views and 4.9 million likes. The internet did what it does best: doxed, dissected, and dragged.

Grace, reflecting on the chaos she unwittingly unleashed, had a pointed take: “A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but… play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I hope their partners can heal and find happiness ahead.”

Fallout For The CEO And His Family

Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, reportedly removed her husband’s surname from her Facebook profile before deactivating the account altogether after it was inundated with sympathetic and critical comments.

So far, neither Astronomer nor the two executives have issued any public comment, a silence that’s raising eyebrows, especially considering Cabot’s HR leadership role in the company. Questions are swirling about potential workplace ethics violations, abuse of power dynamics, and the fallout of an executive scandal going globally viral in less than 48 hours.

As of July 18, the only thing clear is this: what began as an innocent Kiss Cam moment has become a corporate headache and a cautionary tale in the age of smartphones and 24/7 social media scrutiny.

One viral video. Millions of views. Countless consequences.
