The Pakistan Airports Authority has halted flight operations at major airports, including Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot, after Indian strikes on terror camps.

The PAA has announced that Lahore and Sialkot airports will remain closed to all air traffic until 12 noon on Thursday. The suspension has disrupted both domestic and international flight schedules and passengers were advised to check with their respective airlines for updates and possible delays.

The move follows Indian airstrikes at Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The strikes killed 10 family members of Lashkar chief Masood Azhar.

Pakistan has been put on a ‘red alert’ and government hospitals across the country have been asked to be prepared for any emergency. After the airstrikes, the neighbouring nation closed its airspace for all domestic and international flights for at least 24 to 36 hours.

All educational institutions in Islamabad and the Punjab province were closed. Pakistan has claimed that at least 26 people have been killed and 46 others injured in the airstrikes.
