Amid the rising tensions with India, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, asserted that Pakistan is fully prepared to defend itself against any threat. Speaking at the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), General Munir said the country’s strength and resilience are deeply rooted in its rich history and the sacrifices of its people.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following a deadly terror attack on April 22 in Baisaran, Pahalgam, located in Jammu & Kashmir. Terrorists from Pakistan-backed ‘The Resistance Front’ opened fire on tourists, killing 26 and injuring 17.

Highlighting the enduring relevance of the two-nation theory, which “underscores the distinction between Muslims and Hindus”, General Munir said this principle remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s identity and existence.

He also underscored that Pakistan’s forefathers made immense sacrifices driven by the belief in a separate Muslim identity. The Army Chief assured that the Pakistani people stand united in their commitment to protect the nation, and stressed that Pakistan remains fully capable of confronting any external threats with strength and determination.

Pakistan Ready For Neutral Investigation Into Pahalgam Attack

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday, expressed Pakistan’s willingness to participate in any neutral and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam attack.

According to Pakistani media website Dawn, while addressing the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif said India was levelling baseless allegations against Pakistan without evidence. Sharif said, “As a responsible nation, Pakistan is ready to be part of any impartial, transparent, and credible investigation.”

Meanwhile, Iran has offered to mediate the tensions between Pakistan and India, saying that the entire region would remain uneasy if the two nuclear-powered neighbours remained hostile towards each other.
