Pakistan: Railway Track In Balochistan Targeted With Bomb Blast; Services Suspended, Employee Injured

<p>Karachi, Jun 16 &mdash; A railway employee was injured and train services suspended after a bomb blast targeted a key railway track in Pakistan&rsquo;s restive Balochistan province on Monday, officials said.</p>
<p>The blast occurred on the railway line connecting Mach and Ab-e-Gum, a vital route that links southern and central Pakistan. The disruption of this route has raised serious concerns over the security of the nation&rsquo;s critical transport infrastructure.</p>
<p>A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways confirmed that the explosion was likely an act of terrorism. &ldquo;This railway line is critical as it connects important regions of the country. The motive clearly seems to be to inflict damage on national infrastructure,&rdquo; the official stated.</p>
<p>The injured railway employee was shifted to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.</p>
<p>In response to the attack, security forces quickly cordoned off the area, while the bomb disposal squad was deployed to check for additional explosives and ensure public safety. Investigations are currently underway, and no group has claimed responsibility yet.</p>
<p>The incident comes amid growing threats to Pakistan&rsquo;s infrastructure, especially in conflict-hit regions like Balochistan. The province has witnessed a surge in attacks on state assets in recent years.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army hijacked the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express train, holding 250 passengers hostage. That incident ended in a deadly standoff, leaving 21 civilians and four soldiers dead.</p>
<p>Authorities are urging the public to remain alert while steps are being taken to reinforce transport security and restore train services on the affected route.</p>
