OpenAI Said to Turn to Google’s AI Chips to Power ChatGPT and Other Products

OpenAI is said to be renting Google’s AI chips for ChatGPT and other products. While a major Nvidia GPU purchaser, OpenAI is now utilising Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for both model training and inference. This move expands Google’s external TPU availability, previously reserved for internal use, helping them secure other major tech clients and AI startups.
