Israel launched airstrikes on Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah in response to a ballistic missile strike by Houthi rebels near Ben Gurion International Airport on Sunday, which injured at least six people. Israeli officials confirmed to The Times of Israel that the Israeli Air Force targeted sites in the Houthi-controlled city on Monday.

The missile, reportedly fired by the Iran-backed Houthi movement, landed near Terminal 3’s parking area at Ben Gurion Airport, prompting temporary flight suspensions and air raid sirens across parts of Israel. Emergency services, as cited by Israeli media, said four people were directly injured in the explosion, while two others were wounded while rushing for shelter.

Purported visuals of the Israeli strike in Hodeidah surfaced on social media claiming that the main Hodeidah port was destroyed. ABP could not independently check the veracity of the video.

Meanwhile, according to news agency AFP, the Houthi-run Saba news agency accused the United States of conducting fresh airstrikes in and around Sanaa on Sunday night, including two hits on Arbaeen Street and the airport road. The agency quoted the rebel-run health ministry stating that 16 people were wounded in those attacks. Al-Masirah TV, affiliated with the Houthis, later reported additional strikes in Sanaa and Al-Jawf governorate.

Netanyahu’s ‘There Will Be Many Bangs’ After Houthi Missile Strike Near Tel Aviv Airport

In a video statement on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation: “We attacked in the past, we will attack in the future.” “We have acted against them in the past and we will act in the future, but I cannot go into detail … it will not happen in one bang, but there will be many bangs,” he added, as quoted by The Guardian.

In another social media post, Netanyahu invoked US President Donald Trump’s earlier criticism of Iran’s role in the conflict, stating, “President Trump is absolutely right! Attacks by the Houthis emanate from Iran. Israel will respond to the Houthi attack against our main airport AND, at a time and place of our choosing, to their Iranian terror masters.”

The Prime Minister shared a March post by Trump, which alleged, “Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN.” “Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!” Trump added.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, quoted by BBC, warned, “Anyone who hits us, we will hit them seven times stronger.”

The Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the strike in a televised address, saying, “The Israeli airport is no longer safe for air travel.”

The Israeli Air Force is investigating how the missile was not intercepted by its advanced air defence system. Senior police commander Yair Hetzroni, speaking to the media at the site, described the impact crater as “tens of metres in diameter and also tens of metres deep,” while noting that no major infrastructure damage occurred.

The Houthi rebels, who have declared solidarity with Hamas during the ongoing conflict in Gaza, have also been involved in targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea and continue to face aerial bombardments by the United States, supported by the United Kingdom.
