Hafiz Saeed’s Aide Amir Hamza Critically Injured, Hospitalised

by aweeincm

Lashkar-e-Taiba co-founder and Hafiz Saeed’s close associate Amir Hamza has been hospitalised after being critically injured at his home.

The 66-year-old editor of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) propaganda magazines was injured under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Lahore and has been admitted to a military hospital under ISI protection. The incident occurred just three days after Abu Saifullah, a senior LeT recruiter and operative, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan.

The back-to-back incidents have sent shockwaves through pro-Lashkar Telegram channels, where users have been calling the injury an “accident” and urging followers to “stay strong in the crisis.”

Who Is Amir Hamza?

Hamza, originally from Gujranwala in Punjab province, was designated a global terrorist by the United States in August 2012. A key ideologue and former Afghan Mujahideen fighter, he was closely linked to Hafiz Saeed and Abdul Rehman Makki—both UN-designated terrorists—and was appointed to Lashkar’s central decision-making committee.

Hamza was actively involved in terror operations in India during the early 2000s. Alongside Saifullah, he was part of the group responsible for the 2005 Indian Institute of Science (IISc) attack in Bengaluru. He was later reassigned to Lashkar’s propaganda wing, which he went on to lead.
