Google Will Introduce Compulsory Developer Verification for Sideloaded Android Apps in 2026

Google will soon require all Android developers to get verified to make their apps available outside of the Play Store. The company said that this would enhance the security of Android devices, as currently users have the option to either sideload the apps onto their phones and tablets or download them directly from the Play Store.
