Google Messages Can Now Alert You Before You Open Potentially Explicit Videos

by aweeincm1

Google Messages is rolling out video detection for nudity and explicit content with the October 2025 Play Services update. The feature scans incoming and outgoing videos locally, powered by SafetyCore, keeping all media private. Explicit videos are automatically blurred, letting users review or delete them before viewing. Sensitive Content Warnings reduce unwanted exposure, especially for younger users. Similar to Apple’s iMessage system, Google’s detection happens on-device, but unlike Apple, it applies to both teens and adults, adjusting settings by age.
