Amid tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, the Indian Embassy in Cambodia has issued a safety advisory for Indian nationals residing in or traveling within the country. In a statement on Friday, the embassy urged Indian citizens to avoid venturing near the affected border zones, where military clashes between Cambodian and Thai forces have resulted in multiple casualties and large-scale evacuations.

Indian Nationals Advised To Avoid Cambodia-Thailand Border Areas

In a release, Indian Embassy in Cambodia said, “In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid traveling to the border areas. In case of any emergency, Indian nationals may approach the Embassy of India, Phnom Penh at +855 92881676 or email <a href=”mailto:cons.phnompenh@mea.gov.in."”>cons.phnompenh@mea.gov.in.”

The advisory is part of a broader regional alert, as both Thailand and Cambodia grapple with rising hostilities over a contested stretch of land. The Indian government is closely monitoring the situation and has urged its nationals to remain vigilant, avoid high-risk zones, and follow updates from verified sources.

India’s Advisory For Thailand Travelers

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Bangkok echoed similar concerns, advising Indian travelers in Thailand to avoid seven border provinces flagged as high-risk: Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat.

The embassy urged Indian citizens to rely only on updates from verified sources, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Newsroom, and to avoid spreading or acting on misinformation.

Thailand remains a top destination for Indian tourists, with over 400 weekly flights linking it to more than 15 Indian cities. The advisory is expected to impact both leisure travelers and business visitors, particularly during the ongoing vacation season.
