In the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, Indian Ambassador to Japan Sibi George on Thursday briefed an all-party parliamentary delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha at the Embassy of India in Tokyo. The interaction spotlighted India’s firm commitment to combating terrorism and its diplomatic efforts under Operation Sindoor.

The delegation’s Tokyo visit is part of a five-nation outreach aimed at rallying global support and delivering a clear message about India’s zero-tolerance stance on cross-border terrorism. Ambassador George emphasized Japan’s swift response to the attack, describing the incident as “dastardly” and underlining Tokyo’s early show of solidarity.

“On the terror attack happened, cross-border terrorism happened, Japan was one of the first countries [to respond]. The all-party delegation [is here], so that we can discuss how we approach our Japanese interlocutory. Our parliamentary delegation is led by honourable Member of Parliament Sanjay Jha,” said George.

The Indian Embassy in Tokyo reinforced this position via social media, posting on X: “All-Party Parliamentary Delegation was briefed by Ambassador Sibi George on Japan-specific approach to engagements, setting the context for a strong messaging of India’s fight against terrorism.”

The current visit is part of India’s <a title=”Operation Sindoor” href=”https://news.abplive.com/topic/operation-sindoor” data-type=”interlinkingkeywords”>Operation Sindoor, launched in direct response to the Pahalgam attack. The operation involved precision air and artillery strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoJK), followed by a military escalation that was de-escalated after dialogue between the Director Generals of Military Operations from both nations.

“All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Hon’ble MP Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha arrives in Tokyo, welcomed by Ambassador Sibi George. India’s unwavering stand against cross-border terrorism, as seen in Op. Sindoor, will be highlighted in all engagements,” the Embassy posted.

The nine-member team includes Ambassador Mohan Kumar, BJP MP Dr Hemang Joshi, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah.
