After recent unrest in Nepal and France, massive protests have now shaken the UK. In Central London, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets in a large-scale anti-immigration demonstration, leading to violent clashes with the police. Several officers were injured, with four reported in critical condition. The protest was led by controversial figure Tommy Robinson, founder of the English Defence League, under the banner “Unite the Kingdom.” Demonstrators voiced anger over illegal immigration, claiming that their rights and resources were being taken away due to the rising number of undocumented migrants in the country. Elon Musk, American billionaire and CEO of Tesla and X, also voiced strong support for the protest and even spoke with Tommy Robinson during the demonstration. He called for nations to resist what he described as “organized invasion and replacement.” This year alone, over 28,000 migrants arrived in the UK via the English Channel. Currently, immigrants make up 16% of the UK’s total population — over 11 million people. At the same time, a counter-protest under the banner “Stand Up to Racism” also gathered thousands. The simultaneous demonstrations posed a serious challenge for London police, who arrested 25 individuals as violence escalated. The investigation is ongoing.
