IDC projects global smartphone shipments to rise 1 percent in 2025 to 1.24 billion units, driven by iOS growth and replacement demand, with a 1.5 percent compound annual growth rate through 2029. Despite weak demand in China, growth in the US, the Middle East, and Africa will offset declines. Vendors are reportedly prioritising value creation with premium designs, GenAI, foldables, and advanced cameras, supported by financing and promotions. GenAI phones are forecast to reach 370 million units in 2025.
