Samsung has switched to a trunk-based development model for One UI 8 and future updates that could arrive faster than before. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE were the first Android phones to launch with Android 16. Both Google and Samsung could offer more efficient, faster software updates, according to a report. Samsung’s One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, was delayed for several models, while One UI 8 could be quicker to arrive on eligible devices.
