In the latest wave of natural disasters across continents, torrential rains have wreaked havoc in the United States, China, and India. In New Jersey, heavy rainfall led to severe flooding in several areas, leaving highways submerged, homes waterlogged, and residents stranded. A state of emergency was declared in some districts as rivers overflowed, and cars were seen floating in the streets.Meanwhile, in Southern China’s Guangxi region, floods that began in June continue into July with alarming intensity. Water levels have reportedly surged to nearly 15 meters in some areas, submerging government offices, homes, and roads, turning the region into a vast water basin.Back in India, the monsoon rains have caused chaos across multiple states. In Rajasthan’s Rajsamand and Dholpur, streets turned into rivers and a youth was swept away while crossing a swollen drain. In Madhya Pradesh, two young boys tragically drowned while bathing in the Kolar Dam. And in Bihar’s Saharsa, an elderly man was stranded on a river island for hours after flooding trapped him while he was picking fruit. These incidents highlight the growing vulnerability of urban and rural regions alike to extreme weather events and underscore the urgent need for better disaster preparedness.
