Apple is reportedly developing an update system for sealed Mac computers, which could allow the company to ship devices from Apple Stores with the latest macOS version. It could mirror Apple’s existing wireless update process for sealed iPhone units in stores, which can remotely power on the phone, install the newest software, and then shut it down.
