The Israel-Iran conflict continues to escalate, raising tensions of wider escalation in the Middle East region. As the conflict entered 11th day, both the nations have continued to trade strikes, with no signs of backing down and sitting on the negotiation table.

The IDF on Monday targeted several high-value locations in the heart of Tehran. These included the Basij paramilitary forces headquarters, the office of internal security under the Revolutionary Guards, and Evin Prison — a facility known for detaining political dissidents and dual nationals.

Air raid sirens blared across Israel today as Iranian missiles streaked through the sky, prompting terrified residents to scramble for shelter. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed that at least one missile, fired directly from Iran, was intercepted by the country’s advanced air defence systems. Israel’s defence minister said it launched an attack on “the heart of Tehran,” while several waves of Iranian missile attacks were reported in Israel.

Meanwhile, in Tehran, Iranian air defenses were activated to confront what state-linked media described as “hostile targets,” highlighting the ever-present threat of escalation.

The latest barrage follows a dramatic escalation over the weekend, when US President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on Iran’s most fortified nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The Pentagon hailed the operation as “extraordinarily successful,” claiming that the sites were “totally obliterated.”

President Trump’s decision, reportedly made while bombers were already airborne, marks a rare direct intervention by the US in Israel’s campaign against Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure. Trump warned Tehran that further retaliation would be met with even more force, raising fears of a broader regional war.

Iran’s leadership has condemned the US and Israeli strikes as a “barbaric act” and a violation of international law, vowing to defend the nation “at all costs”. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retaliated by launching advanced Kheibar Shekan missiles at Israeli targets, including Ben Gurion International Airport and research centers.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “very close” to achieving its objectives: neutralising Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear capabilities. He insisted that the campaign would not end prematurely, promising to stop only once the threats are eliminated. “We won’t pursue our actions beyond what is needed, but we also won’t finish too soon,” Netanyahu said.

President Trump has hinted at possible regime change in Tehran, while Iran’s leaders warn of dire consequences if attacks continue.
