Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Sunday condemned the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, stating that it is US and Israel that have “blown up diplomacy” with their attacks, stressing that Iran was always ready to hold negotiation talks.

Reacting to European Union’s call for Iran to “return” to the negotiation table, Araghchi said: “To Britain and the EU High Rep, it is Iran which must “return” to the table. But how can Iran return to something it never left, let alone blew up?

In a post on X, he said Israel had “blown up negotiations” between Tehran and Washington with its June 13 strikes, and that the US had “done the same” to talks with European powers through its latest attacks.

“Last week, we were in negotiations with the US when Israel decided to blow up that diplomacy. This week, we held talks with the E3/EU when the US decided to blow up that diplomacy. What conclusion would you draw?” he questioned on X.

Araghchi’s remarks come after the US on early Sunday morning attacked Iran’s Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz nuclear sites with 30 Tomahawk missiles and B-2 bombers to destroy the nation’s nuclear programme. US President Trump even warned of additional strikes if Iran retaliates and asserted that Iran’s key nuclear sites were “completely and fully obliterated”.

Iran Reserves All Options To Defend Its Sovereignty

In another post on X, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that US has “committed a grave violation of the UN Charter” by attacking Iran’s “peaceful nuclear installations”.

”The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior,” he said.

Araghchi further said that Iran reserves “all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people” in accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions which allow a legitimate response in self-defence.

Later today, the top Iranian diplomat even said that US has crossed a “very big red line” by launching an attack on the nuclear facilities, and that he does not know “how much room is left for diplomacy now”.

“They crossed a very big red line by attacking nuclear facilities… We have to respond based on our legitimate right for self-defense,” Araghchi said, as reported by AFP.
