World Leaders Express ‘Grave Concern’ After US Strikes Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Call For Talks

<p>World leaders urged de-escalation after US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday escalated exisiting volatile situation in the Middle East amid the Israel-Iran war.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The US conducted precision strikes involving B-2 bombers on three key nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Trump declared that the strikes were a “spectacular miltary success” and warned Iran against retaliation. Meanwhile, Iran has said that the US attacks will have “everlasting consequences.”</p>
<p>”The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.&nbsp;</p>
<p>”In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” he added.&nbsp;</p>
<p>United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres raised concern over the escalating situation in the region and called for de-escalation.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Australian Government spokesperson issued a statement noting Trump’s statement that now is the time for peace. “The security situation in the region is highly volatile. We continue to call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy,” said the spokesperson.&nbsp;</p>
<p>New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said the ongoing military action in the Middle East is “extremely worrying” and advocated for diplomacy.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Latin American countries including Mexico, Venezuela, and Cuba condemned the US strikes and called for de-escalation.&nbsp;</p>
