Iran Launches 100 Drones Towards Israel As Supreme Leader Vows Revenge For Strikes On Tehran

<p>Iran launched about 100 drones towards Israel after strikes on Tehran by Israeli forces early on Friday.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Brig. Gen. Effie Deffrin, the chief Israeli army spokesman: &ldquo;In the last few hours, Iran has launched more than 100 drones toward Israel, and all the defence systems are acting to intercept the threats,” reported AP.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes- called Operation Rising Lion – were “a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival”.</p>
<p>He said the operation would “continue for as many days as it takes to remove the spread”.</p>

<h2>Israel Attacks Iran</h2>
<p>The Israeli strikes killed Iranian armed forces chief of staff Mohammad Bagheri prompting a vow from the Supreme Leaders Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to take revenge.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Netanyahu also said that Israel targeted Iran&rsquo;s main enrichment facility in Natanz and the country&rsquo;s ballistic missile program, as well as top nuclear scientists and officials. He alleged that Iran was working on a new plan to destroy Israel after its old plan, its circle of proxies, failed.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The International Atomic Energy Agency said no increase in radiation levels has been observed at the Natanz site” and confirmed Iran&rsquo;s Bushehr nuclear power plant, on the Persian Gulf coast, &ldquo;has not been targeted” in the strikes.</p>

<h2>Israel Will Suffer Severe Consequences&nbsp;</h2>
<p>Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Israel will suffer severe consequences after launching deadly attacks on the Islamic Republic on Friday, including Tehran and nuclear sites.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Israel &ldquo;opened its wicked and blood-stained hand to commit a crime against our beloved country, revealing its malicious nature more than ever by striking residential centres,&rdquo; Khamenei said.</p>
<p>The strikes have escalated tensions in the already war-torn region. Following the attacks, Iraq and Jordan closed their airspace.&nbsp;</p>
