In a report in 2024, the International Labour Organization warned that more than 70% of all workers worldwide are at risk of exposure to excessive heat. It added that India lost an estimated $100 billion from heat-induced productivity losses. Small businesses and informal workers like construction workers, farmers, street vendors and food delivery partners bore the brunt.
