In a significant development amid heightened tensions, India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire across all domains—land, air and sea. The agreement, reached directly between the two countries, comes in the wake of India’s retaliatory precision strikes on terror sites under ‘Operation Sindoor’ following the April 22 Pahalgam massacre.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar underlined India’s unwavering position on terrorism, stating, “India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action. India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”

The Pak DGMO initiated the call this afternoon after which discussions took place and understanding reached. There is no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place,” it stated.

According to sources cited by news agency ANI, the understanding was a direct outcome of bilateral engagement. “The Pak DGMO initiated the call this afternoon, after which discussions took place and understanding was reached. There is no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place,” the sources were quoted as saying.

The ceasefire announcement follows intense diplomatic manoeuvring after India launched precision strikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday, under ‘<a title=”Operation Sindoor” href=”https://news.abplive.com/topic/operation-sindoor” data-type=”interlinkingkeywords”>Operation Sindoor’, in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead.
