A day after the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi where the government decided to downgrade diplomatic ties, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif called a meeting of the National Security Committee on Thursday to discuss national security and regional situation.

Shehbaz Sharif, after chairing the NSC meeting, said that Pakistan has blocked its airspace for Indian airlines, closed the Wagah border crossing, suspended all trade with India and said any attempt to divert water meant for Pakistan under the Indus Water Treaty will be considered an Act of War.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the measures announced by India and called them “unilateral, unjust, politically motivated, extremely irresponsible and devoid of legal merit.”

Here are the top points from the NSC meeting:

- Pakistan said that Kashmir remains an “unresolved dispute” between the two territories as “recognized through multiple UN resolutions.” The Pakistan government said it continues to support the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

- The Pakistani government condemned terrorism, saying that the country has “suffered immense human and economic losses.” It further claimed that the “Indian attempts to inject volatility in the environment along Pakistan’s Eastern borders is aimed at distracting Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts.”

- The Shehbaz Sharif government also claimed that India’s “worn-out narrative of victimhood” cannot obfuscate its own culpability in fomenting terrorism on Pakistan’s soil.

- Islamabad also called on the international community to “remain mindful of India’s state-sponsored extraterritorial assassinations or attempts on foreign soil.”

- It also called New Delhi to refrain from what is said to be “reflexive blame game and cynical staged managed exploitation” of incidents like Pahalgam.

- The Pakistani government also rejected the Indian announcement to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.

- It also announced closing down the Wagah Border post with immediate effect. The announcement comes a day after India announced closing the Wagah-Attari border.
