<p>Seven British MPs have spent more than a day in a week working on second jobs since the start of the parliament this year, a report has said.</p>
<p>An analysis conducted by The Guardian showed that seven MPs worked at least 300 hours since July, equivalent of eight hours a week, in jobs apart from their Parliamentary duties.</p>
<p>While the seven MPs worked totalling more than 3,000 hours, seven more MPs worked at least five hours a week on their second jobs, the report said.</p>

<p>The British Members of Parliament spent their time with additional gigs as TV presenters, lawyers and consultants. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage made more money than any other MPs from additional jobs. </p>
<p>The British Parliamentarian has declared an average of about 24 hours’ work a week as a cameo creator, GB News presenter, media commentator, public speaker, Telegraph journalist, brand ambassador and social media influencer, as per the report.</p>
<p>Conservative MP George Freeman has worked an average of over 11 hours a week in advisory roles to private companies since July 2024.</p>
<p>”Our parliament has always encouraged MPs with outside experience – whether as doctors, nurses, trade unionists or in my case helping UK science startup ventures, rather than professional politicians,” Freeman said, according to the report.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Reform UK MP Lee Anderson has clocked 10.5 hours a week working as a presenter and contributor on GB News.</p>
<p>Conservative MP Geoffrey Cox KV has worked over 9 hours a week in legal work since July 2024. </p>
<p>Tory John Hayes, on the other hand, has declared the equivalent of 8 hours and 48 minutes a week across his roles as a professor, lecturer, columnist and strategic adviser. </p>
<p>Labour MP James Naish has declared an average of 8 hours and 47 minutes a week of outside work, while Democratic Unionist Party MP Carla Lockhart declared eight hours of work a week on her farm.</p>
<p>The analysis showed that 27 MPs worked an average of one business day a week as a councillor since being elected to the Commons. </p>
<p>Another analysis by ITV News stated that 26 MPs were doubling up their job in parliament with their local role.</p>
<p>Out of the total 650 MPs, 236 members declared a second job outside the Parliament earnings in over eight months of their tenure.</p>
