<p>At least five individuals, among them an assistant commissioner, lost their lives while 11 others sustained injuries in a bomb explosion that struck a government vehicle in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on Wednesday. According to a report by Dawn, Bajaur District Police Officer Waqas Rafique informed that the deadly explosion occurred on Nawagai Road in the Siddiqabad railway attack area of Khar tehsil. He stated, “The blast was so intense that the vehicle targeted was completely destroyed,” adding that the injured were rushed to Khar Hospital without delay.</p>

<p>The deceased were identified as Nawagai Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Abdul Wakil, subedar Noor Hakim, and police constable Rashid. Two policemen and a civilian were confirmed among the fatalities.</p>
<h3><strong>Medical Emergency Declared in Bajaur</strong></h3>
<p>Health Adviser Ihtisham Ali denounced the attack and expressed sorrow over the loss of the assistant commissioner and others, as per Dawn. He personally contacted the district health officer and the medical superintendent at the DHQ hospital in Bajaur to check on the condition of the injured.</p>
<p>“An emergency has been imposed in Bajaur hospitals and health department staff has been alerted for first aid,” he said. He assured the public that all necessary medical assistance would be extended to the victims of the blast.</p>
<p>Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed ordered Malakand Regional Police Officer to submit a report on the explosion and instructed the additional inspector general along with the counterterrorism department (CTD) to dispatch a special team to Bajaur. Hameed revealed that initial intelligence suggested the attack was carried out by Fitna Al Khawarij targeting the assistant commissioner’s vehicle.</p>
<p>“A special branch is obtaining intelligence related to the incident,” he said. “Teams have been formed to arrest the elements involved in the incident while all necessary evidence is being collected from the spot,” he added, noting that bomb disposal teams were at the scene. Hameed vowed, “Those elements disturbing the country and province’s peace will be strictly dealt with.”</p>
<h3><strong>KP Officials Condemn Attack, Order Probe</strong></h3>
<p>KP government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif strongly condemned the blast, calling the loss of lives regrettable. He said, “The KP chief minister has issued orders for an enquiry into the incident and provide medical facilities to the injured.” Saif declared that those seeking to destabilise the country “will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious purposes, and will be brought to justice.”</p>
<p>KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah also condemned the attack and instructed the district administration and health authorities to stay fully alert and deploy all available resources to ensure the injured receive immediate medical care, as reported by Dawn.</p>
